Title: BBQQ 2016 date
Post by: Gyrm on 14, February, 2016, 13:18:03
It's certainly time to start planning it.

To start things off, it has been discussed making it something more special, given that it's our 10th anniversary as a guild. More specifically, it has been discussed renting a house in Prague.

Right. Start talking about BBQQ shiz!

One reason is making it more speshul given that it's our 10th anniversary.

Another reason is making it more accessible to non-Fennoscandians.

I have no solid plan for any of those dates, I'll do my best to come whichever date is chosen!

Apparently we're maybe busy the first weekend in June.

And I think the Thrustra might not be overly keen on keeping it here, but other then that, woo BBQQ!

Way too early for me to have any idea about what dates may be appropriate.

Dates or no dates, I'm pretty sure some things can still be discussed. Such as the location. Are the people who were interested in Prague still interested in Prague, for instance? Would people prefer some other place?

A place with enough guildies to provide sleeping quarters of some kind would be nice. That tends to make a very big difference in how much the final cost ends up being, which greatly affects how many people can show up.

Better to talk about what to do, then!

Well, I dunno. What's the main limiting factor for most people, cost or time? I mean, like Sanzul said, I'm sure as long as there's shelter and enough people, we'll have a good time, but it depends on how ambitious we want to be. I like the idea of some place that's warm. And has alcohol, and outdoor couches with a douche corner.

Cost for me, as I've got other things to fit into the year's travel budget. Time is easier to find. I assume that it's the other way around for many.

I will probably show up. Just decide on a place and date and I will try to make it.

I cant the midsummer weekend, Im working... and might be most of Junes weekends. (I'll see what I can do, as it seems now I work every other weekend even during summer unless i jump on somebodyelses work schedule, and I dont know these yet, I just know the one week during midsummer and the  two weekends before that I cannot) There is also the option to work the first weekend in June, I just havnt decided if I acctually want to work ALL weekends. :P

However if the date is decided I can say I cant work that weekend beforehand... I have dibs on the not ready summer schedule so yeh.. I have some play room as long as stuff is decided before I have to report to the bossman.

I'll probably work to make it fit, regardless of place and date. That said, the sooner a date is decided the better, as I will be hitting Mexico this summer and it would be great to plan that around the bbqq.

Seems to be a lot of people wanting the date asap, and there seems to be two dates that are favourable. I can flip a coin, if you want.

Or fake-flip it and tell you it's happening June 24-26...

That still leaves the question of where. There are a bunch of logistical issues with the whole "city where no squiddies live" thing, notably booking and payment. We usually don't have an exact headcount on how many people we expect to show up until halfway through a BBQQ.

On the where question: my dad said we could borrow his house in the finnish archipelago, that of course does mean I sort of get veto rights on dates :D Does that work for people? I will update on the date that works for my dad this week, but probably July.

I have nothing against Finland.
Or well, I do. But not in a way that would stop me from attending a BBQQ there.

On the issue of renting a place somewhere and not everyone having stacks of IRL gold laying around perhaps those of us that feel they have the means could chip in a bit more so that no one feels that it would be to much of a cost not to attend. I am more then willing to pay a bit more so that someone that are low on cash atm can attend.
